Q: Tell us about yourself and your family.
Married? Children? How many? I have been
happily married to a wonderful guy for 10 years! We have
3 boys, Alex 8, Davis 6 and Riley 10 months.
Q: If you have children, what is your favorite part
about being a mom? My favorite part is the sweet 'I
love you mom's' that seem to come from the blue and always
when you most unexpectedly appreciate it.
Q: Cat or dog person? Why? We are a big
'any type of' animal family! We have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 5
Amazon parrots and 3 red-lored Amazon babies that I am
hand-raising right now!!
Q: Favorite color? Least
favorite? Any particular reason?
I would have to say my favorite color is
green. We are big outdoor people and I
have grown to appreciate all the green in
our world. It signifies growth and
nature for me.
Q: What type of music do you prefer? That would
definitely be 'new age'.
Q: Last book that you read - or tried to read?
Who's Looking Out for You by Bill O'Reilly. My Dad is a big
O'Reilly fan and likes to keep me on the up and up in
politics.
Q: What do you prefer to do in your spare time?
Hobbies/Interests? I am also a photographer,
www.visionaryphotographs.com, and so photography is my
passion! I love nothing more than to be somewhere in the
mountains with my family and a roll of infrared or black&white
film! That, and I adore scuba diving. We haven't
been able to scuba dive since baby#3 came along, but I think
in the next 2 years we will definitely make time for a scuba
trip again!!
Q: Funniest WAHM moment. I
guess the 'funniest' moment would be when my
'proud' 6 year old wanted to model my
diapers! His skinny hind quarters fit
wonderfully in the larges!! (At least he
didn't want to actually use one!!)
Q: What was the inspiration behind your business?
I spent countless hours on cloth diaper research and
purchasing. And, too many times I was disappointed in
products. (Don't get me wrong, I did find a handful that
I adored!) I decided it was time for me to make a
super-soft AIO with the best no-fading fabrics that would last
through generations. I also hated all the diaper pails I
found and wanted something stylish and less obtrusive so I came
up with one that hangs from a door knob.
Q: How long have you been in business? Is your
business all online or do you have any local business?
I have been in business for about 6 months now, and am now
fully functional on the 'web.' I do some local business
by selling ERGO's to local mothers who have envied mine!
Q: How did you go about starting your business?
What was the VERY FIRST thing you did? I bought a
Serger and sewing machine and learned how to sew like an
expert. My Aunt Marie owns a sewing shop in California
and was a god-send for me!
Q: What did others think when you started your business?
Were they supportive? They were very supportive! My
husband was happy to see me put time into something that would
be my accomplishment instead of spending those countless hours
searching the web for diapers (we all know how addictive that
is)!
Q: Do you have a business plan or flying by the seat
of your pants?
Right now my whole plan is around advertising and linking.
My photography business was much easier to 'launch' because it
was local with instant and steady business. I don't even
advertise it anymore because I work off so many referrals.
Advertising Diapers, bags and ERGO's is all new for me.
Q: What is your daily routine? That depends on
the day! Right now it starts with hand-feeding baby
parrots (every 3 hours throughout the day). During the
week I am busy with the 3 boys and their activities. At
night I am online checking and filling orders. On the
weekends I am busy with photography sittings, sewing and
internet business.
Q: What have you found to be the toughest part of the
job of WAHM?
Keeping the family and businesses organized. My hubby
works full time as a mortgage broker, so we are a very busy
family!
Q: What do you feel is your greatest
strength and the greatest asset that you
bring to your business? My greatest
asset would be that I offer a great line of
products at great prices! I have been
on the consumer side for so many years and
price and quality were always tops on my
list.
Q: How would others
describe you?
motivated, sincere, caring
and organized
Q:
On the
other
hand,
what do
you feel
is your
greatest
weakness
- how
have you
dealt
with
that in
your
business?
My
greatest
weakness
is that
I
overextend
myself.
In a way
I am too
accommodating.
I have
to make
myself
take
time off
on a
regular
basis. Q: How would you describe yourself?
Loved, happy and well taken care of by my family and
friends!
Q: What is your favorite part of your job? Hearing
how happy mothers are when they love my products, or getting an
e-mail about how the ERGO baby carrier is so LOVED (I personally
have written one of these when I bought mine!).
Q: What is your favorite other WAHM/WAHM sites? I
would have to say my favorite creation is the AIO's with
crushed velvet inside. My baby loooooves them! The
velvet is the softest most luxurious fabric I have ever used
in diapers.
Q: What is your definition of a WAHM?
Work at home mom, a super-woman who is talented in the art of
time-organization and can make a mean PB&J!
Q: What is most important to you in a
Cloth Diaper Resource site?
To let WAHM's advertise and to have many
resources and articles about the wonderful
world of cloth diapers!!
